What You'll Learn From Your Results

Video consultation with a Wellsprout microbiome specialist

Your gut diversity score. The more species we find, the stronger the signal for a resilient, well-functioning microbiome.

Levels of bacteria linked to your metabolic, immune, and gut-barrier health.

Any red flags for gut lining issues, like elevated mucus-degrading species or opportunistic pathogens.

Common parasites or infection-causing bacteria that could be affecting how you feel.

    How does our technology compare?

Outdated 16S amplicon sequencing offers a low-resolution view of the microbiome, with a high rate of false positives. Wellsprout's shotgun metagenomic sequencing reads every organism in your sample down to the species and strain level, mapping microbes, functions, and pathogens other tests can only guess at.

Comparison illustration: Wellsprout's deep shotgun metagenomic sequencing identifies microbes, functions, and pathogens in sharp detail, while standard 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing offers only a low-resolution, inference-based view

    Frequently Asked Questions

    What does the test measure?

Your gut microbiome test uses advanced shotgun metagenomics sequencing to comprehensively analyze bacterial, viral, fungi and other microorganism composition. You will learn which species are present, their abundance levels, species diversity score, F/B ratios, and how your microbiome affects 5 major health systems, including brain, gut, heart, liver, and immunity.

    Who should take this test?

    Ideal if you experience:

    • Bloating, gas, or irregular digestion
    • Afternoon energy crashes
    • Brain fog or poor concentration
    • Stubborn weight despite healthy eating
    • Wanting to optimise health proactively

Do not take if: currently menstruating, experiencing diarrhea, taking antibiotics (wait 2 weeks), or pregnant or breastfeeding.

How do I prepare for the test?

Maintain your usual diet before testing. For the most accurate results:

    • Avoid probiotic supplements for 7 days before collection
    • Limit alcohol for 24 hours before
    • Wait at least 2 weeks after finishing antibiotics
    • Collect your sample when not menstruating or experiencing diarrhea
When will I get my results?

Results are delivered digitally in 3 to 4 weeks after the laboratory receives your sample. Shotgun metagenomic sequencing reads far more data per sample than older methods, so it takes a little longer to process, but gives you species-level accuracy in return. You will receive an email notification when your interactive dashboard is ready to view.

    Where is this test available?

This test is currently available for customers in Singapore and Australia. We ship test kits to both regions, and samples are returned to our laboratory for analysis.

    How often should I retest?

We recommend retesting every 3 to 4 months to track improvements in your microbiome diversity and health scores. This allows you to measure the impact of dietary and lifestyle changes with objective data.

    Tested together with my partner

My partner and I decided to do the test together, which I'd highly recommend. We eat many of the same meals, live similar lifestyles, yet our results were completely different. It really showed us that even when people seem healthy on the surface, their microbiomes can have very different needs. It changed the way we think about personalised nutrition.

    Finally tried this

I'd been meaning to do a gut health test for ages but assumed it would be troublesome. It wasn't at all. The kit arrived at my doorstep, I completed the sample at home, sent it back, and a few weeks later my results were available on my phone. The dashboard was clear and easy to navigate, with enough detail to actually understand what was going on.

    Clear insights

I expected a generic report with broad recommendations. Instead, I got a detailed breakdown of my microbiome, the bacteria present, how they may be influencing digestion and immunity, and even food recommendations tailored to my results. It was surprisingly easy to understand despite being backed by science.

    Loved the experience

I'd heard people talk about the gut-brain connection for years but never really knew what it meant for me. This test made it much more personal. My gut-brain axis score came back lower than I expected, but the report explained everything clearly and gave me practical steps to work on.
