Creamy avocado green shake with Wellsprout Super Green Powder, served in a glass, topped with cacao nibs and honey drizzle

Avocado Green Shake

This shake is creamy, satisfying, and packed with good-for-you ingredients. The avocado makes it silky smooth without any dairy, whilst a scoop of Wellsprout Daily Superblend adds a refreshing lift and brings 27 whole-food plants to the glass. It's quick to make and perfect for breakfast, a post-workout pick-me-up, or a light afternoon treat when you want something nourishing without the heaviness. The healthy fats from avocado help your body absorb the fat-soluble nutrients from Wellsprout, making this more than just a tasty drink—it's proper nutrition that actually works.

Why This Works

Avocado is one of those ingredients that transforms texture without adding obvious flavour. It creates a shake that's thick, creamy, and genuinely satisfying—closer to a milkshake than a health drink. The monounsaturated fats slow digestion, keeping you fuller longer, whilst also helping your body absorb vitamins A, K, E, and the phytonutrients from Wellsprout. The natural creaminess means you don't need dairy, though you can add it if you prefer. Wellsprout blends in seamlessly, adding an earthy, slightly herbaceous note that works surprisingly well with the neutral avocado base. A touch of honey balances everything without making it overly sweet. The result is something you'd actually want to drink, not something you force down for the sake of being healthy.

Ingredients

  • ½ ripe avocado
  • 1 scoop Wellsprout Daily Superblend
  • ½ cup oat milk or soy milk (unsweetened works best)
  • 1 tsp honey (or maple syrup, to taste)
  • A handful of ice cubes
  • Optional toppings: cacao nibs, toasted coconut flakes, or granola sprinkle

Method

  1. Scoop the avocado into a blender. Make sure it's properly ripe—it should yield to gentle pressure but not be brown or mushy inside.
  2. Add Wellsprout Daily Superblend, oat milk, honey, and ice.
  3. Blend on high until smooth and creamy, about 45–60 seconds. You want it completely emulsified with no avocado chunks remaining.
  4. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed. Avocados vary in flavour—some are more neutral, some slightly buttery. Add a bit more honey if yours needs it.
  5. Pour into a glass, garnish with toppings if desired, and enjoy immediately whilst it's cold and thick.

Tips & Variations

On the avocado:

  • Ripeness is everything. A perfectly ripe avocado will be slightly soft when gently squeezed but still firm. If it's too hard, leave it on the counter for a day or two. If it's overripe, it'll add an off flavour.
  • If you don't have a fresh avocado, frozen avocado chunks work beautifully and create an even thicker texture.
  • Use the other half of your avocado for toast, salad, or freeze it for your next shake. Squeeze lemon juice over it and wrap tightly to prevent browning.

On the milk:

  • Oat milk creates the creamiest result with a subtle sweetness that complements the shake well.
  • Soy milk adds extra protein (about 7g per cup) and creates a smooth texture.
  • Almond milk works but tends to be thinner—you might need less liquid or more ice.
  • Whole dairy milk or full-fat coconut milk makes this genuinely indulgent. Use if you want something more substantial.

On the Wellsprout:

  • Blend the powder thoroughly—at least 45 seconds on high. This ensures it's completely incorporated and you won't get any gritty bits.
  • The shake will turn a soft green. This is what you want. The colour comes from the 27 plants in Wellsprout and looks fresh rather than murky.
  • If you're new to Wellsprout, you might want to start with half a scoop and work your way up.

Sweetener options:

  • Honey adds a floral sweetness that works nicely with the earthy notes from Wellsprout.
  • Maple syrup is slightly less sweet but brings a warm, almost caramel-like note.
  • A pitted Medjool date blended in adds natural sweetness plus extra fibre and minerals.
  • If you prefer no added sugar, use a very ripe banana instead—it'll add sweetness and extra creaminess.

Texture variations:

  • For a thicker shake (almost smoothie bowl consistency), use less milk (about ¼ cup) and more ice.
  • Add a frozen banana for natural creaminess and potassium. The shake will taste more tropical.
  • A tablespoon of chia seeds blended in adds thickness, omega-3s, and helps it keep you full longer.

Flavour additions:

  • A tablespoon of cacao powder turns this into a chocolate-avocado shake. Sounds odd, tastes brilliant.
  • Fresh mint leaves (about 5–6) add a refreshing note that lifts the whole thing.
  • A small piece of fresh ginger (½ inch) brings warmth and aids digestion.
  • A pinch of cinnamon or vanilla extract creates a more dessert-like feel.

Make it a meal:

  • Add a scoop of vanilla or unflavoured protein powder for 15–20g extra protein.
  • Blend in a tablespoon of almond butter, cashew butter, or tahini for healthy fats and staying power.
  • Stir in a tablespoon of oats before blending for sustained energy and extra fibre.
  • Top with granola, nuts, or seeds to add crunch and make it more substantial.

Prep ahead:

  • You can't really prep this fully in advance (avocado oxidises), but you can portion out the Wellsprout, sweetener, and any add-ins into small containers.
  • Keep ripe avocados in the fridge to slow ripening. They'll last 3–5 days longer than on the counter.

Health Notes

  • Avocado provides monounsaturated fats that support heart health and help reduce inflammation. These healthy fats also improve the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K) from other foods. Avocados are rich in potassium (more than a banana), fibre for digestive health, and folate for cell function.
  • Oat milk contains beta-glucans, a type of soluble fibre that supports gut health and may help lower cholesterol. It's naturally creamy without added thickeners and provides B vitamins and minerals.
  • The healthy fats in this shake slow the absorption of the natural sugars from honey, preventing blood sugar spikes and keeping you satisfied longer. This makes it genuinely filling rather than a quick sugar hit.
  • Wellsprout Daily Superblend provides 27 whole-food plant ingredients, prebiotic fibre from chicory root and psyllium, and a full spectrum of phytonutrients. The fat from the avocado enhances absorption of the fat-soluble nutrients in Wellsprout, making this combination particularly effective.
  • This shake delivers a balance of healthy fats, plant-based nutrients, fibre, and a modest amount of natural sweetness—everything you need for sustained energy without the crash that comes from high-sugar smoothies.

A satisfying shake that feels indulgent but does a lot of good. No apologies needed.
